Appeal of Pearls

The pearl is a remarkable gem which has no peer. It’s simple elegance and opulent splendor makes it one of the most endearing of jewels. They say “diamonds are a girl’s best friend.’’ Perhaps, in the eyes of advertisers who wish to benefit from a relatively recent fashion, but not necessarily for the woman with a sensitive heart and insightful awareness. There’s a good reason why pearls have been chosen as a metaphor for wisdom. While faceted gems (like diamonds) just have a shiny reflective surface that can only be appreciated in bright light, no matter how you wear it, a lustrous pearl glows from within, even away from light. And this incandescence has a pulsating intensity and meaningful depth unmatched by any other luminous jewel.

As a natural creation of the sea, the enduring fascination with this treasure hard to attain is alive and well since time out of mind, making it the subject of many myths, legendsstories and other soulful imagery. Whereas faceted gems need a skilled jeweler or technician to cut and give them form, the pearl is the only jewel nurtured inside a living being, with the very soul of its own. No other gem, no matter how exquisite, luxurious, colorful or brilliant has the manifold intriguing symbolism and healing properties historically associated with pearls. No other precious stone has captivated mystics of every culture as has the enigmatic pearl. The alchemical process of its creation is simply mind-blowing. And as for its romantic allure, the pearl is singularly attractive. As a symbol of lasting love and marriage, pearls have served as the gift of choice for brides since time immemorial.

The round shape of an exotic high quality pearl is simply awe inspiring. Even baroque pearls which come in a variety of irregular shapes are highly valued. Their unusual contours make them uniquely suitable for an imaginative jeweler to put his creative abilities to good use.

As treasures that come in a wide spectrum of body colors, pearls are quite versatile. They are appropriate for wear anywhere, anytime. Fitting for everyone, pearls complement almost any attire. As the most ancient of organic gemstones, pearls are classic jewels which never go out of style.

Beautiful, yet understated, the pearl makes a magnificent gift for almost any occasion. With the growing admiration of cultured Asian and South Sea black pearls today, these are increasingly worn by bridesmaids and young girls initiated into womanhood. Pearls equally appeal to the more mature woman celebrating a milestone anniversary or significant birthday as an offering of love for a life well lived.

Even though these unique gems offer a myriad of luxurious benefits and symbolic value, you don't have to be rich to own fine-quality pearls; they are available to fit almost any budget.  Enjoy it while you can because you’re worth it. Treat yourself and pass it on to your loved ones as an everlasting present of mother-nature herself.
